About Those Sandhill Cranes

The District's Sandhill Cranes are now in the new display enclosure. We released them without much fanfare to be sure they had the opportunity to feel comfortable in their new digs before we brought crowds to see them. I am not an expert ornithologists, but it seemed to me that they adapted pretty well from the get-go. They are housed at the back of the preserve. To find them, walk through our animal display and take the path that exits next to the peregrine falcon cage. Follow the path around to the right. As you walk by the marsh and follow the path back to the left, the cage will be on your right. We will have a grand opening sometime in August.
